The Compass Bar is a private members club located on the 40th floor of a contemporary commercial tower. The intention from the outset was to transport the patron to another place and time. The rooms are designed to feel like a tradititional Villa. Ornate crown mouldings and decorative ceiling panels add a sense of rythym and repitition. A large cuatom designed cabinet houses members private drinks and cigar collections.
Tan leather Mies chairs are paired with grey velvet cocktail chairs and marble tables. The lighting is subtle, with spotlights illuminating table tops, and edison tube lights casting an ambient glow. Walls are decorated with vintage posters, and old prints. The rooms are designed to be both intimate and open, where private gatherings, and chance encounters can occur.
